Category Management in Healthcare

In a fast-changing environment, healthcare organizations must grapple with both cost inflation and diminishing reimbursement. This module introduces category management concepts pioneered in retail supply chains which are characterized by similar cost pressures and lean margins. However, applying category management to healthcare is not a perfectly analogous process to retail. Instead, it takes collaboration among all stakeholders—payers, care providers, suppliers, supply chain managers, clinicians, and patients—to understand how to most cost-efficiently deliver the highest quality of care to patients.
